"You will always hold court as the most remarkable man we have ever known."
We want to express our gratitude to you, and hope that our words can convey the depth of our feelings. For you, Murray, are no ordinary mortal. You are so blessed with wisdom, kindness, grace and humility that you are truly larger than life.
It is difficult to convey how heartfelt our appreciation is. Of course, the help that you have given J. is the remarkable result of extraordinary efforts by you and your most talented associates. That was easy to see. But underlying the steadfast commitment and devotion to trying to making J. whole again has been a degree of patience and dedication that, until now, I would never have imagined possible. I might have lost count of the many instances that tested your forbearance, but I have not forgotten -and will never forget- how imperturbable you were in the face of all kinds of obstacles. That alone should qualify you for sainthood.
From the first moment we met you I began to experience the true and deep meaning of one's dedication to family, for you, Murray, truly are the embodiment of what it means to be an exemplary father, grandfather and yes -and this we can see in Paula's loving eyes- husband.
You have taught me -or at least tried to- a great deal about how importantly constancy, composure, courage and flexibility contribute to a life well lived. Every time I feel my patience being tested now, I try to stop and ask myself, "What would Murray do or say?" Believe me, it's not so easy to teach this old dog (young pup to you, I suppose) new tricks, but you have touched our hearts so very deeply that learning as much as we can from you becomes the best way we can honor you for all you mean to us.
Your passionate devotion to your profession, legendary though it might be on the wider stage of the legal community, is so clearly personalized in actual practice that there is no way anyone can come close to equaling all that you represent both as a tireless advocate and as a fully engaged, caring human being.
You have earned not only our utmost respect and gratitude, but you have secured a special place in our hearts. It is there that you will always hold court as the most remarkable man we have ever known.
