Daniel H. Kovel

Daniel H. Kovel is an associate at Schwartz Perry & Heller LLP. Since joining the firm, Mr. Kovel has quickly and notably earned a reputation for pragmatic advocacy, in and out of the courtroom. He is regularly called upon to handle complex negotiations and otherwise assist with all aspects of litigation in State and Federal courts, as well as Arbitrations and Mediations before JAMS, AAA and FINRA. Mr. Kovel has taken and defended depositions, argued motions and otherwise independently handled many of the most rigorous aspects of litigation that the firm’s clients face.

Mr. Kovel has also become a key member of the firm’s employer practice group, where he advises and counsels growing employers on cost-efficient workplace solutions to meet the ever-developing employment law rules and regulations in New York. He has worked with the firm to create and rewrite obsolete employment handbooks, trained workplaces in preventing sexual harassment and defended growing businesses engaged in employment-related disputes.

As he works at the intersection of the firm’s employee and employer practices, Mr. Kovel has also contributed to the firm’s regular requests for commentary on the evolution of the workplace, including co-authoring an article regarding the prevention of sexual harassment in workplaces without human resources departments, published by, Time Magazine’s internet publication.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kovel was an attorney with The Legal Aid Society of New York, where he represented low income New Yorkers and their families in wide-ranging civil litigation matters, including wage and hour and overtime claims under New York State and Federal Law. While with Legal Aid, Mr. Kovel has taken and defended depositions, argued dispositive motions and otherwise independently handled litigation through trial and appeal. He then primarily represented Mitchell-Lama and HDFC residential cooperative boards of directors as an associate with a boutique law firm in New York City.
