Matthew Schatz has been with Schwartz & Perry since his graduation from New York Law School in 2004. While still in law school, Mr. Schatz gained significant litigation experience while interning for the Honorable Richard B. Lowe III of the New York State Supreme Court, Commercial Division. In addition, Mr. Schatz served as an Advocate with the Unemployment Action Center and was also very active in New York Law School's Labor and Employment Law Society. Mr. Schatz worked for the American Civil Liberties Union while in law school where he was a research assistant to the President, Nadine Strossen, which prompted him to pursue a career in Employment Law.

Mr. Schatz has had exposure to all aspects of employment law including gender, age, race, national origin, religious, disability and pregnancy discrimination as well as sexual harassment, contract claims, options, benefits and employment and severance agreements.

Mr. Schatz has worked with the partners of Schwartz & Perry on trials, arbitrations, mediations, motions, and appeals. In addition, Mr. Schatz has negotiated settlements, employment contracts, severance and settlement agreements and has assisted employees who have been subjected to discrimination and retaliation in the workplace.  Mr. Schatz has also consulted with employees on various other workplace issues and employment related contracts.

Mr. Schatz, along with Partner Brian Heller and Managing Partner Murray Schwartz began lecturing on various employment discrimination and litigation matters, sharing the knowledge that he has gained working for a leading employment law firm.  Mr. Schatz now is on the faculty of Lawline.com, a leading provider of online continuing legal education.

In addition to his legal work and lecturing, Mr. Schatz has authored and co-authored several articles in the field of employment law.
