New York Super Lawyers
Murray Schwartz was selected and honored as a "Super Lawyer" in the Super Lawyers magazine, New York, Metro Edition, 2007, 2008, and again in 2009. Davida S. Perry was selected and honored as a Super Lawyer in 2009. Only 5% of New York metropolitan area attorneys are selected. Mr. Schwartz and Ms. Perry were two of only eleven lawyers named under the category of plaintiff employment litigation lawyers in 2009.
The honorees' names are seen by more than 1.6 million readers and subscribers in a special advertising supplement to the September New York Times Magazine each year, and the New York Super Lawyers magazine, which was mailed to active New York attorneys and nationwide to the lead corporate counsel of the Russell 3000 companies and ABA-approved law school libraries.
Super Lawyers magazine described its purpose as follows: "Finding and selecting an attorney can be disquieting to the most sophisticated of consumers. In simpler times, communities were smaller and more close-knit. Community members knew one another well, and the selection of an attorney was based upon personal knowledge and reputation. In today's more complex world of Internet connectivity and vast stores of online data, the consumer is faced with an overwhelming array of information.
"In selecting an attorney, gathering and evaluating information relevant to one's circumstances and needs is a daunting task. If you are a sophisticated consumer in need of an attorney, we believe you will find New York Super Lawyers - Metro Edition a good place to begin your search."
The determination of whether a lawyer will be placed on the Super Lawyers list is independent of advertising or any other payments. Rather, Super Lawyers identifies qualified candidates by using a multi-step evaluation process that incorporates peer recognition and professional achievement, utilizing a system of balloting, peer evaluation and internal research, which acts as a system of checks and balances.
In its evaluation process, the Super Lawyers magazine research department examined the background and experience of candidates for the annual list, reviewing indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Factors considered in evaluating candidates were: Verdicts and settlements, transactions, representative clients, experience, honors and awards, special licenses and certifications, position within law firm, bar and/or other professional activity, pro bono and community service, scholarly lectures and writings education and employment background and other outstanding achievements.
